For one thing it was, I’m guessing, 100% written by actual humans. An increasingly rare phenomenon.

This was the first thing I noticed as well. It was refreshing to read.

But think of all the IPO Monopoly money they just generated.

Magnus cannot even beat his phone. We're long past the point of humans being able to compete with the `fish, any version, any platform.

The same could be said of your post.

OpenAI (claim to) show the existence of *a* finite time singularity. It could stimulate more research in PDE solving, and maybe physics, but it has zero impact on practical applications, that I can see. The Millenium problems were chosen based on hardness not practical relevance.

I was referring to the "it's just mathematicians checking boxes" claim

Two of these things will definitely work. One of them is completely untested, poorly understood and with potentially massive consequences for the climate and food production.

Hey at least they are trying.

With politicans, "atleast they're trying" is the worst option. Either you know what you're doing ... or don't. Destroying local vital industries with tax burden, to pay subsidies to green bullcrap, and importing everything from other side of planet, that's "leftard ecology".

I absolutely love hacking ikea furniture, specifically their kitchen cabinets. If you need a bunch of boxes as the base for a project and you’re thinking about building it the traditional way, ie 3/4 birch plywood, I can almost guarantee you that the cost of raw materials alone is going to be more than picking up an similar sized kitchen cabinet from ikea. Yes it’s mdf but in my experience they are super durable and it has never been an issue. Writing this from atop my hacked ikea storage bed :-)

This is why so many iOS apps these days are based on Electron/Capacitor/React Native/etc.

That's probably because they want to develop cross-platform.

Power consumption?

tbf, I don't think Wagyu cows were that thrilled about their lot in life before Wagyu became a thing, either.

You may have a unique perspective on that, though...
