I actually
wanted
to take screenshots on the iPhone the other day, and wondered if there was any software which would allow me to do so without jailbreaking it.
This sounds like a little bit too much work though :)

Hold down the power button and hit the button on the front once - you'll get a white flash and a screen shot will be saved to your photos folder.

Additionally, if you continue to hold down the front button, rather than just pressing it, you'll perform a hard reset of the iPhone.

Voted up because the few times you actually need to hard reset an Apple device, it's bloody far from obvious how you do it.
